I feel a lump in my breast – what should I do?

Breast lumps should be assessed by specialist breast surgeons working within a multidisciplinary team. Each lump should undergo the Triple Assessment, which includes:

  • A clinical examination
  • Imaging (either mammography or ultrasound or both)
  • Tissue diagnosis (biopsy).

All these tests are carried out during the first consultation at The Shard and the results available before you leave the clinic. Imprint cytology of the core biopsy samples helps determine whether the lump is benign or malignant and this result is also available in the clinic. Breast Care Partners have specialist breast surgeons in clinics throughout the week.
